Can't Get Back To Normal
No matter what I seem to do,
I just can't seem to kill
This crush I've got on you.
No matter what I try to say,
It's got it's teeth in me
And I can't get away.
And I don't think I 'll ever, go back to normal
But I don't think I ever was all that normal
And every single girl I see
I turn her into you
That's what you've done to me
And I've been at a loose end
For weeks and weeks
I just can't concentrate, my mind is free
No matter where I try to hide
It follows me around
And rips out my insides
And every curl upon your head
Is printed on my mind
Just like the words you said
And I don't think I 'll ever, get back to normal
But I don't think I ever was all that normal
[Ad Lib]

Mint Choc Chip
It's, it's okay
Though my world collapsed in on me yesterday
It's my fault
When you needed an elastoplast I gave you salt
I treated you like a child
With fake words and fake smiles
Misled you all the while
I can't apologise
Because in my mind I feel so insecure
The past is tense
And the only thing I want is to have you there
I treated you like a child
With fake words and fake smiles
Misled you all the while
Don't say you're sorry
It's not your fault and it never has been
It's down to me
I thought a pig's ear when I had a queen
I treated you like a child
With fake words and fake smiles
Misled you all the while

Stalingrad
You know the way that
Clouds speed up in those old town movie shows,
I think we need that kind of change in perspective
You say our love's failed and
Everything you touch has turned stale
But maybe this is just our Stalingrad
I'm feeling optimistic but I don't know why
Maybe it's irrational,
Or is it just my stubborn side that won't let go
You paint your toenails silver, well so do I
At least we've both done one thing in common
Try to tuck you out of it
I know myself that it will be worthwhile
End up in some unknown town
With some unknown guy who doesn't know how to smile
I'm feeling optimistic but I don't know why
Maybe it's irrational,
Or is it just my stubborn side that won't let go
I never told you this,
But you look like a famous 70s singer
I thought that maybe you would
Get a little big headed [bridge]
I'm feeling optimistic but I don't know why
Maybe it's irrational, or is it just my
Stubborn side that won't let go?

Childhood Sweetheart
You were a woman, I was so stupid
You don't get an instruction manual
When you're shot by Cupid oh childhood sweetheart
I thought that you could be replaced, my childhood sweetheart
Find someone else more to my taste, oh childhood sweetheart
Oh, I put you through the grinder childhood sweetheart
Now you've left me far behind ya
How is your view now? does it suit you well?
Sometimes mine is OK, sometimes it's hell, oh childhood sweetheart
I thought that you could be replaced, my childhood sweetheart
Find someone else more to my taste, oh childhood sweetheart
Oh, I put you through the grinder childhood sweetheart
Now you've left me far behind ya
[solo]
These days I tell myself to be philosophical
Forget about the truth and say "oh well" childhood sweetheart
I thought that you could be replaced, my childhood sweetheart
Find someone else more to my taste, oh childhood sweetheart
Oh, I put you through the grinder childhood sweetheart
Now you've left me far behind ya

Josephine
Josephine, you've been here since 1931
It looks like you would eclipse anyone
I can't quite recall where it was that you came from
Was it Siam? was it Cornwall? Was it Indonesia?
Oh Josephine, I don't want a cigarette but,
What is going through your head is anybody's guess
Do you sleep with your eyes open?
Planning your escape?
Through the wire, through the glass
Not today, not today [x2]
Josephine, as the Spanish and the Japanese go firing past,
Taking time to take another photograph
All the reds and blues and greens are no use to you
Do you look up to the roof
And wish that you could disappear?
Not today, not today [x2]
[Repeat]

Caterpillar Song
A caterpillar crawls up your sleeve,
It's ages 'till we have to leave.
Take the camera from your bag
Take some photos we can both look back
I feel like the weight came off my shoulders
If I could take a pill
To make time stand still
[repeat]
You've got grass in your hair
Dragonflies are everywhere
Someday this rhythm must end
Like somebody saying goodbye to a newfound friend
If I could take a pill
To make time stand still
[repeat]

Ken's Song
I can't fit in
No matter how I try
I take cold sweats
When I have to socialise
I don't need a shrink to make me feel alright
I just need you to put 2 wheels on my bike
I hate people
I'm a mess, I'm King Midas in reverse
Everything I touch turns sh*t
I don't need a fix to make me feel alright
I just need you to put the string on my kite.
I know what you're thinking,
"He's finally flipped it"
The weight of the world
Is killing me, girl
I know what you're thinking,
"He's such a wierdo"
But I will never be
The boy from next door.
I must confess,
I backstab all my friends
I take what they say,
And use it for my own ends
I know what you're thinking,
"He's finally flipped it"
The weight of the world
Is killing me girl
I know what you're thinking,
"He's such a wierdo"
But I will never be
The boy from next door.
{I feel like a moth that's headed for the light
I just need you to put the fog in my light}

Honk Williams
I was driving along in my pickup
When suddenly the whole sky lit up
With the spacecraft, and an alien standing at the door.
He was dressed just like Hank Williams,
He had a Stetson hat and eyes like a cat, and
I was on my knees praying to the lord
I said "Mr. Spaceman, Please don't abduct me.
Take me away in your craft and f*ck me
I'm just a poor, unfortunate country boy"
He said "Son, there's something amiss,
I was only taking a p*ss,
Out of the back of my spacecraft, before I headed home.
But why don't you and I have a sing-song?"
He produced a Gibson guitar and I sang along,
To your cheating heart,
And my, that spaceman could sing.
Suddenly here was a boom, a bang and a crash!
A smash, a bash and a flash!
The sky went black and my alien friend had gone.
And now when I lay my head on my pillow,
Sometimes I feel so low
My whole value-system and everything I believed in has gone.
Because somewhere out in the cosmos,
There's a Hank Williams spaceman who loves us
I can hear him whistling
As he tip-toes across the evening sky
I see a pale reflection of a spacecraft up in the sky [x4]
[Whistle Solo]
I see a pale reflection of a spacecraft up in the sky [x4]

Deep In My Heart I Know I'm A Slob
Okeydokey
Traffic's vibrating in the street
I don't mind 'cause I'm asleep
Someone's at the door looking for me
Go away and leave me in peace.
The sun comes up and the sun goes down
Me, I'm nowhere to be found,
Because I love to stay in bed
Stay asleep 'til it hurts my head
I don't want a steady job,
'cause deep in my heart I know I'm a slob
I can't get my feet of the starting blocks.
I don't keep a track of the time
It could be quarter to one
Or quarter past nine
This could be the most beautiful day,
But I'll never know 'cause I'm miles away
The sun comes up on my windowsill
But I've got so much time to kill
Because I love to stay in bed
Stay asleep 'til it hurts my head
I don't want a steady job,
'cause deep in my heart I know I'm a slob
I can't get my feet of the starting blocks.
